Hue's first deluxe Boutique hotel, La Residence Hotel & Spa by Accor, has recently opened. Nestled on the banks of the Perfume River, the graceful Art Deco building was once the residence of the French governor of Central Vietnam.

The 122 guests rooms have been designed with a combination of colonial charm, modern earthy shades and Asian opulence. River view bedrooms lead out onto deep, private terraces facing the former Imperial Citadel, a magnificent moated fortress protecting the Forbidden City , on the opposite bank.
